Best of Back Mountain is a word-of-mouth guide for Dallas, Shavertown, Trucksville, Harveys Lake and the surrounding towns. It exists because a neighbor's recommendation is worth more than a page of anonymous star ratings.

We read the recommendation threads
When a neighbor asks 'who's a good plumber around here?', dozens of people answer. Those threads are the raw material for this site.

We count who gets named
Every time a business is genuinely recommended by a resident, that's one mention. The businesses named most often rise to the top of their category.

We keep the reasons attached
The short blurb on each listing summarizes what people actually said — showed up fast, charged what was quoted, gentle with the kids.

Nobody buys a ranking
Advertisers can get a featured spot and a badge, and it's always labeled. Rank order is never for sale.
How we're different from Yelp or Google
- Rankings come from people who live here, not from strangers or bots passing through.
- A single angry review doesn't sink a good business, and a pile of solicited five-stars doesn't lift a bad one.
- Categories are small and local on purpose — you get a short, usable shortlist instead of 200 results.
